Joy & good health to all in the New Year! We wanted to give everyone something to smile about so we decided to have some fun with dog images. I love to create images from bits and pieces and I love to play with our dogs so this gave me an opportunity to combine the two passions.
The Ridley (Dalmatian) footage was shot by Geof Kern years ago for Interface Carpets. Ridley always made people smile and he was wonderful on set. Usually, he just lived under my desk during photo productions, but he was a model a few times. At this shoot, his task was to go up the stairs by himself, avoid touching me or getting a treat and then go back down. Amazingly, after a few treats and takes he did it perfectly! I was on a platform at the top of tall floating stairs with 10 steps that started from a platform about 2 1/2 feet off the floor. Chris was at the bottom standing by the platform. I initially had to walk Ridley up and down a few times to make sure that he was comfortable enough not to panic and jump off to the floor below. He began hesitantly, but it turned into a game that he enjoyed tremendously so he started running back and forth between Chris and me. He was a very funny and adventurous dog. ❤️
Over the holiday, we had fun in our studio shooting our current dogs, Kylie & Kahlo. ❤️
Kahlo, the boxer mix, has a personality that is the opposite compared to Ridley. She’s a timid but friendly dog who did not even trust the paper that she needed to walk on to come to me. She had to test it first. She gradually accepted it and started playing. She also got jealous because Ky was getting all the treats and having so much fun. She’s come a long way from the frightened dog that she was when she showed up in our yard. We couldn’t find her owners or a new home for her so the rest is history.
And then there is Ky. She LOVES doing tricks anywhere, and she would dance with the moon if she could. She doesn’t look like it but she is all heeler. It makes her so happy to perform and play. This is so much more fun than just hanging around the studio while we work. She’ll joyfully do anything and she inspires Kahlo to disregard her fears and participate.
Cheers to 2022 from all of us! ❤️
